Erica Blaire Roby

Her barbecue skills were put to the test as she competed against some of the nation's top chefs. Roby endured the pain despite a cut finger.

Roby is a psychology grad and has worked both as a wine expert, as well criminal defense attorney. Before competing on Food Network she spent time as a sommelier pairing wines with food. She was able to rekindle her love for cooking and the kitchen through this work. Roby was raised in a barbecue house, and her love of the grill is a natural result.

Roby took up cooking barbecue after her first child, despite her legal career. She was inspired by her father's dream of opening a barbecue restaurant, so she took up the task. Roby signed up for a celebrity barbecue chef Harry Soo's cooking class in 2018. In the end, Roby became a certified pitmaster. She was soon working in a BBQ restaurant.


Barbecue was a hobby that she began to enjoy and then became a passion. At first, she made barbecue dishes from her back porch. Later, she competed in barbecue contests across the nation, cooking alongside world-famous pitmasters. She has opened a number of pop-ups in Dayton, Ohio since then. She hopes to eventually open a food truck.

Team Brawl vs. Team Brawl and Team Anne

Food Network BBQ Team Brawl will host its third season. Two of the top chefs in the country will compete to win the ultimate grilling title. Anne Burrell and Jet Tila will be taking on Bobby Flay, Anne and Team Anne in an unforgettable dinner-party brawl. Matt Roth, a favorite of "BBQ Brawl", returns to the Austin-based Smokin Beauty along with his wife Thao.

In the first episode of Food Network BBQ Team Brawl, Ann told the contestants what to make while Team Bobby and Jet let them choose what to make. Team Bobby made a mess of his ceviche and lost some meat. Team Anne is now ahead by a lot. Anne even grabbed Team Bobby's throat as he reached for an ingredient.

The new season of BBQ Team Brawl will feature some familiar faces, as with all Food Network competitions. Lee Ann Whippen, who has competed in barbecuing for 23 years, will serve as the judge for Team Anne. As well as being the managing partner at Deviled Pig Tampa, she is also a judge for Kansas City Barbecue Society. She has won many state and global barbecue championships. She also has starred in TV shows like Throwdown With Bobby Flay and BBQ Pitmasters.


Flay and Symon were also in a battle for the best barbecue sandwich. Lee Ann chose to make a sandwich the traditional way, while Susie chose a more exotic approach. Her pork belly banh mi pushed the boundaries of flavors while the judges thought it was too thick. Team Anne's burger tasted great and was well-baked.
